Schools

  • Several school district facilities will be renovated and/or replaced by 2009. SMCISD has been named one of Newsweek’s Top 1,300 High Schools in the United States for 2005, 2006 and 2007. SMCISD students moved into the newly constructed high school in August 2007 and more recently moved into two new elementary schools. Ninety-eight percent of the 2007 seniors graduated with an acceptance letter to an institute of higher education.

Health Care

  • Central Texas Medical Center offers services that include a 24-hour emergency center and a Minor Emergency Center available until 11 p.m. The emergency department is a fully equipped, 20-bed department providing specialty care for cardiology, pediatric, orthopedic and obstetric patients. Other services offered at CTMC include a 16-slice CAT scanner, PET/CT scanner, maternity club for expectant mothers, outpatient surgery, rehabilitation services that include physical, speech and occupational therapy, an MRI unit and a cardiac catheterization lab. The Center for Wellness & Sports Performance promotes self-care and preventive medicine.
